Noisy USB?

Post by Nig » Thu Sep 01, 2016 7:43 pm

Might be worth looking at one of these:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/HifimeDIY-Isol ... rds=hifime

It's a USB isolator that breaks the ground signal between USB devices, thus stopping any ground loops. I bought one to try with my Circuit as the noise I get thru' my audio path is awful when the Circuit's USB port is connected. Quite happy to report that with this connected between my Circuit and PC - no more noise:-) There are mentions in the Amazon reviews that this doesn't work with USB2 but mine is plugged in my PC's USB2 port and works fine. I can also confirm it works fine with sysex transfer to and from the Circuit.

Thoroughly recommended:-)

PS I didn't actually get mine from Amazon, but direct from http://hifime.uk/usb-isolator, which was slighty less expensive, and came via Amazon anyway;-)

Awesome! Glad you found something for it! Have you experienced any latency issues with the USB Isolater?

Nope, no latency that I've noticed, either with the Circuit nor with other gear I''ve tried it with, such as the Roland MX-1.

Welcome, BTW:-)
